Louisiana Auto Transportation Information
Louisiana doesn’t have the largest population, but it has New Orleans, which is easily its most popular car shipping location. This draws carriers from across the country, especially in the winter and spring months. Aiding carriers in their shipments to and from Louisiana are two major interstate highways, I-10 and I-20. I-10 runs east-west through the southern parts of the state, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I-20 runs through the northern parts of the state, notably through Shreveport. These two interstates give carriers options for getting into and out of the state and tend to keep prices a bit lower.
Prices, however, will almost always be lower to and from major cities, especially if they sit on a major interstate. If you’re shipping to a more rural, out of the way part of Louisiana, it may be a bit more difficult especially in the far south. The swamps are not friends of auto transport trucks, so many carriers stick to I-10 through New Orleans. If you’re shipping to a suburb, you stand to save a bit of cash by moving your pickup or delivery location to New Orleans or Shreveport instead. However, you should speak to your agent to learn more about Louisiana auto transportation services. They can explain more about what makes areas popular and unpopular and help you find a quality carrier at a good price.
About Popular Louisiana Auto Transportation Locations
As mentioned, New Orleans is easily the most popular auto shipping location in Louisiana. It is big, it is sprawling, and most importantly, it’s easy to get to. As such, New Orleans sees quite a bit of traffic and prices tend to be low throughout the year, barring the occasional hurricane.
Baton Rouge doesn’t see the demand that New Orleans does, but its location along I-10 still makes it easy for carriers to get to. As such, it’s often one of the cheaper parts of Louisiana to ship to, and it shouldn’t be hard to find a carrier willing to go there.
Shreveport sits in the northern part of the state, along I-20 instead of I-10. This isn’t as great as sitting along I-10, which is a major coast-to-coast interstate, but it sees plenty of traffic for being the third-largest city in Louisiana. As such, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a carrier willing to go there, as I-20 still sees plenty of truck traffic throughout the year. And it’s more popular in the late summer and fall, considering it’s further inland and doesn’t see as much damage from hurricanes.

- "Being a rather large SUV that needed shipped from California to Nebraska, there were a few challenges. The first truck that arrived refused to pickup the vehicle due to it's size. However, Mike worked diligently and within one week he had a hotshot lined up. The operators of the hotshot were incredibly communicative and accommodating. The vehicle arrived withing 3 days with no damage at all. Although there was the one hiccup, in the end the service received was top notch. I would be happy to ship with Mike in the future." - Miles/California
