New York Auto TransportationWhen we discuss “New York auto transportation” on this page, we’re not talking about shipping to New York City, but rather the state of New York. And that’s a pretty important distinction considering how big New York State actually is. Of course, New York City is the most popular location in the state to ship from and to. But it’s not the only one. Considering you have western New York, near Lake Erie, as well as upstate New York and the mountainous central areas, it’s important to understand how those areas differ from one another when it comes to shipping a car. And that’s what we’re going to discuss today.

Quick Facts About New York

Population: 19.7 million

Some Information About New York Auto Transportation

So when you’re shipping to or from New York State you need to be specific about the city you’re shipping from. Telling a quote provider you’re shipping to or from “New York” will likely lead them to saying you’re shipping to or from New York City. If you’re not shipping to or from New York City, this is going to mess your quotes up. Be accurate with your locations in order to get a better price.

We will say, though, that New York City is easily the best place in the state to ship a car. It’s incredibly popular, it has a huge metro area home to over 20 million and is one of the top car shipping locations for both customers and carriers alike. But if you’re not shipping to NYC, you’re going to be in for a bit of a wait and a price hike. Areas like Rochester and Buffalo are much more difficult to ship to due to their location and lack of popularity. Make sure to speak to an agent about your New York auto transportation needs.

About Popular New York Auto Transportation Locations

New York City
As mentioned above, New York City is by far the most popular auto transport location in New York. It’s the largest city in the nation, it’s a huge transportation hub and it draws a lot of people from across the nation. As such, NYC is going to be the fastest, cheapest place in the state to ship a car from or to.

Buffalo
As the second-largest city in the state you’d think Buffalo would see more car transport traffic. But because of its location and history, and general makeup, not a lot of people are going to Buffalo. Expect higher prices and longer wait times for pickup and transit. It does help, though, that it sits along I-90, which runs through the Great Lakes region servicing many of the largest cities in the area. This tends to draw more carriers in the long run, which helps prices.

Rochester
Rochester is in the same basic boat as Buffalo in that it’s not the most popular area to ship to. It sits only an hour east of Buffalo, which helps a bit considering the city is accessible via a popular interstate highway. But like Buffalo, it sees a lot of snow in the winter, is predominantly urban and doesn’t seem to have much to attract residents. But again, shipping to Rochester shouldn’t be difficult or too expensive.

Testimonials

  • "Being a rather large SUV that needed shipped from California to Nebraska, there were a few challenges. The first truck that arrived refused to pickup the vehicle due to it's size. However, Mike worked diligently and within one week he had a hotshot lined up. The operators of the hotshot were incredibly communicative and accommodating. The vehicle arrived withing 3 days with no damage at all. Although there was the one hiccup, in the end the service received was top notch. I would be happy to ship with Mike in the future." - Miles/California
