Some Information About South Carolina Auto Transportation

As mentioned, the main auto shipping hub in the state is Charleston, its largest city. The issue with this, though, is Charleston sits along the coast, far removed from the metro areas of the west. This means that carriers traveling east to South Carolina have to travel further to get to Charleston, and some may not want to. They will, of course, but it will likely be more expensive than shipping further west.

At the same time, though, Charleston sits close to I-95 and does have interstate highway access. So it’s not like it’s hard to get to or anything. That ease of access is surprisingly important, too – carriers don’t want to travel too far out of their way if they don’t have to. Charleston is probably your best bet if you’re shipping north or south along the eastern seaboard. That’s where it’s at its cheapest. Other major cities such as Columbia and Spartanburg, though, are more centrally-located. This makes those areas easier to get to if you’re shipping from the west. Speak to an agent to learn more about pricing on your specific route as well.

About Popular South Carolina Auto Transportation Locations

Charleston is the state’s largest city and, by default, one of its top auto transportation locations. And despite what we’ve said above, shipping to Charleston won’t be difficult. Carriers like going to big cities because there’s more customers. Charleston is no exception there. While other cities may be more desirable for the drivers, it doesn’t mean they’ll pass up good-paying loads to Charleston any time soon.

Columbia is South Carolina’s second-largest city. But, its central location and status as state capital make it much more appealing for both customers and carriers. It also has multiple ways to get there, meaning there’s a relative ease of access for carriers. Overall, Columbia is like Charleston – big, easy to get to, and popular among customers. Finding a carrier won’t be difficult.

North Charleston
As its name suggests, North Charleston sits north of Charleston. For all intents and purposes, it may as well be Charleston for carriers. They’ll price routes the same, they’ll use the same roads to get there, and it’ll take the same amount of drive time as Charleston. As such, don’t expect any difference in any of those when compared to Charleston proper.

  • "Being a rather large SUV that needed shipped from California to Nebraska, there were a few challenges. The first truck that arrived refused to pickup the vehicle due to it's size. However, Mike worked diligently and within one week he had a hotshot lined up. The operators of the hotshot were incredibly communicative and accommodating. The vehicle arrived withing 3 days with no damage at all. Although there was the one hiccup, in the end the service received was top notch. I would be happy to ship with Mike in the future." - Miles/California
