Utah Auto TransportationUtah auto transportation services aren’t the hardest things in the industry to find. It’s certainly not as remote as, say, North Dakota. But Utah, on the whole, is not that popular among carriers, mostly because it’s not all that popular among customers. This will impact carrier availability on routes to and from Utah, as they prefer routes that people are actually shipping along. This doesn’t mean that carriers won’t ship to or from Utah – just that it may take a bit longer to find them, or they might be a bit more expensive per-mile than other routes. We can help you find Utah auto transportation services, of course, but we also want to inform you about the area and what to expect when shipping to or from the state.

Some Information About Utah Auto Transportation

One of the main advantages to Utah auto transportation services is that most all the major cities of the state are grouped fairly close together. This is good news if you’re shipping to or from that area (known as the Wasatch Front), but bad news if you’re not. Outside of the Wasatch Front (also known as the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area), there’s…not much. It’s Utah, it’s mostly desert and pretty barren. Because of this, carriers running routes through Utah are going to want to stay along the interstates that service the Wasatch Front.

The Wasatch Front includes Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, West Valley City – all the major cities in the state. So that’s where carriers want to go. Luckily, they have a few ways to get there, notably I-15, I-80, and I-84. I-15 runs south and connects the Wasatch Front to areas like Las Vegas and Los Angeles. I-80 is a major east-west route that runs from San Francisco to New Jersey, and I-84 runs west to Portland, Oregon. These are important arteries that allow carriers to easily get through Utah. If you’re shipping to or from Utah, having a pickup or delivery location along one of those interstates will go a long way to finding a carrier quickly and affordably.

About Popular Utah Auto Transportation Locations

Salt Lake City
This is definitely going to be the most cost-effective city in Utah to ship from or to. Salt Lake City is the capital of – and the largest city in – Utah. More importantly, this is where carriers want to go if they’re running routes through Utah. As such, it will definitely be the fastest and cheapest area to ship to.

West Valley City
West Valley City is a suburb of Salt Lake City and the second-largest city in the state. This is also a popular shipping location in Utah due to its proximity to Salt Lake City. You should expect pricing and also carrier availability to mirror that of its larger neighbor.

Provo sits south of the bulk of the Wasatch Front. This is problematic for some carriers considering its distance from Salt Lake City, but at the same time it’s not too far. If you’re shipping from the south, Provo should be cheaper. But from anywhere else, you’re looking at a little extra to get it there. Luckily, most carriers will still go to Provo if the price is right.

  • "Being a rather large SUV that needed shipped from California to Nebraska, there were a few challenges. The first truck that arrived refused to pickup the vehicle due to it's size. However, Mike worked diligently and within one week he had a hotshot lined up. The operators of the hotshot were incredibly communicative and accommodating. The vehicle arrived withing 3 days with no damage at all. Although there was the one hiccup, in the end the service received was top notch. I would be happy to ship with Mike in the future." - Miles/California
